The drive from the Colombo Airport to the Southern Coast is one of the most travelled routes in Sri Lanka and usually takes more than two hours to complete. Now the connection of the two expressways, through the new highway in Sri Lanka, Katunayake and Southern which will be linked tomorrow (8th November) from midnight, is cutting that journey down to just under two hours via the new Outer Circular Highway.
Accordingly, with this new freeway opening, the Colombo- Katunayake Expressway (E-03) will get connected to the Southern Expressway (E-01) via Outer Circular Highway (E-02) at the Kerawalapitiya Interchange.
Travellers make more than 2 million trips between Colombo and the Southern Coast every year, and the connection of these expressways will significantly reduce travel time to The Beachfront, Balapitiya to being only an hour’s drive away from the Colombo Airport.
